Well, right now, I'm considering about 10:1, and a little valve unshrouding will probably reduce that a little bit. I'm no engine builder, but I guess to maximize the potential of a hotter cam, you'll need higher compression.. I'm a little considered about valve - piston clearance, though, but that might not be an issue.. I have to go back to reading, hehe.

What compression ratios are you considering building for?
The word around the boards is that you can get more out of your motor by utilizing a moderate compression ratio with more advance in timing.

I aim for a nice balance between the two.

My L28 is going to be around 9.2-9.4:1 which is almost a full point higher than the stock 8.5:1 ratio. I "Think" this will be a decent compromise so I can advance timing to fully realize my motors' potential, but as I bet you can guess, this is purely theoretical since the cooling on the back end of the L-series heads is so bad.

Thanks, I'm planning to rebuild the whole cylinder head, with new valves, springs etc. Hope to go for an Isky stage II cam, if they'll just reply my emails..

Nice tear down shots. I'd be careful if you are planning on resurfacing your block or head. You definitely don't want those valve pits to get any worse.

Valvetrain work plans?

Keep us posted!
